Paracord Bracelet

Hey guys, sorry it's been a while. I've been enjoying the freedoms of summer. I'm gonna try to do 2 posts/week up until May 31. I won't have access to a computer until August then, so I won't have any activity for a while.

UPDATE: The knot I was using to go through the loop was too small so I got a larger washer and fastened that bracelet. It works much better and can be seen at the bottom of the post.

Today I was bored and decided to make a paracord bracelet. I've had some for a long time and figured I'd put it to good use. After failing to make one by my own design, I went on youtube and found a helpful tutorial. It's very simple and took maybe 15 minutes tops, and that was with changing the song I was listening to a few times. The instructor goes nice and slowly and you really only need to know 2 knots which is nice.

I only had green paracord so it's a totally green bracelet but some time I wanna get 2 colors so I can have a cooler looking design. Here are a few pics of my results

This was a fun project that makes something kind of useful. Hope you guys enjoy making one too.

Foxy Shazam

I took my environmental science exam today, I just have psychology tomorrow and then I can go home. This song describes my mood right now pretty well.

The group is called Foxy Shazam. They are from Ohio and are pretty insane. They have such an energy in their music. I want to see them live some time, I've heard their concerts are amazing. According to Wikipedia, their genre is made up of Glam Rock, Alternative Rock,Pop-Rock, and Post-hardcore. They formed in 2004 and have produced 4 albums. I'd definitely recommend them, I like a lot of their stuff. Their self-titled album Foxy Shazam is probably one of my favorite albums, but I also really like their new album The Church of Rock and Roll.

They certainly have an interesting band image as you can see below. I think that's part of what makes them so cool. Their spontaneity and fun loving outlook make them stand out.

I would say they are kind of like a punk version of Queen. Something about the lead singer Eric Sean Nally reminds me of Freddy Mercury. Especially in the song Unstoppable. All the mic tricks and just general dancing. His voice is somewhat similar as well.

I would eventually like to do a sketch of Eric, I will try and have it up sometime next week after I've finished my Mobster Skips sketch. That's about it for this, back to studying for my last exam.

The Civil Wars

First off, sorry it's been a few days since the last post. I have 2 more exams and then I'm free and I've had to talk with some of the profs because of some absences caused by narcolepsy, I might do a post or two dedicated to narcolepsy, but now to the subject of this post...So this isn't drawing but I would like to share one of my new favorite artists, The Civil Wars. I've actually known about them for a bit, I heard their really popular song Barton Hollow a while ago on my local radio station. I didn't make an effort to go and listen to any of their other songs though until recently. The duo is made up of Jean Paul White and Joy Williams. Many people say Jean Paul looks like Johnny Depp and Joy Williams definitely lives up to her name, she has a very bubbly personality

They have released one studio album Barton Hollow and have released a few EP's as well as some live albums. One really cool thing about The Civil Wars is that they sound just as good, if not better, when they sing live. I've posted the live version of their song I've Got This Friend as well as the studio version. I've listened to this song so many times it's kind of ridiculous.

The live version

The Studio Version

They are an interesting genre, described as "Americana, folk, alternative, [and] country" according to Wikipedia. I would say they are less country and more folk alt personally. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do, I think they are extremely talented

Mobster Skips

I'm currently working on another sketch of a Regular Show Character. I'm gonna do a mafia/mobster-esque version of Skips the gorilla, I feel like he has the right physique and voice to have been some sort of gangster at some point. I might post it Tuesday or Wednesday, it is finals week this week so I'll be studying a lot but for my study breaks I'll work on the drawing. I hope it turns out well! I don't know how frequently I'll be posting from now until this upcoming Friday but I'll try and get a few posts up. Thanks for your interest in my drawings!

Spike Siegel

Cowboy Bebop is another great anime I've watched. Spike Siegel is one of the main heroes of the show and Is pretty awesome. He's a master at fighting both with guns and hand to hand. Here is my rendition of him. I found the original picture here.

Jack White

I decided to make a sketch of Jack White since I was watching the live streaming concert "Unstaged" where he was performing. It took me about 2 hours to do this one, I had to restart a few times to get the nose right. I found the original photo here.

Ninja Ninja

Afro Samurai is an awesome anime that I really enjoyed watching. While Afro is an awesome character, I always really liked Ninja Ninja as well. I don't know if it's because Samuel L. Jackson was the voice actor or if it was his cool looks but whatever it was, Ninja Ninja is a boss. I found the picture on the left here

Here is another version I just did where I darkened up the pic abit. I think it gives the picture a nice accent and just makes it look crisper.

Stephen Colbert Sketch

I enjoy Colbert's show. Even though I don't always agree with his political views, I like him as a person and I think he's pretty funny. I figured I'd try and do a sketch of him and I think it turned out pretty well. I spent about 3 hours on the sketch and then about half an hour on the doctored up version.

I like to try different effects with each sketch, some times I'm trying to tweak it because part of the drawing didn't come out exactly like I wanted it to. This time, the scanner really messed up the shading parts and made it look way too harsh.
